The Equal Opportunity Cell is the umbrella body that consolidates the University's commitments to constitutional equality across its student, faculty, and staff communities.
Implementation of reservation, scholarships, hostel allotment, and the redress of caste-based discrimination. Article 15 and Article 17 of the Constitution; the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
Implementation of OBC reservation as notified by the State Government, post-Mandal framework.
Affirmative measures for students from minority communities under Article 30 of the Constitution and the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
Implementation of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016: accessibility, reasonable accommodation, scholarships, and the 5% horizontal reservation across admissions and recruitment.
Equity initiatives, mentorship, and reporting on women's participation in academic and leadership roles. Distinct from the ICC under POSH 2013, which handles complaints.
Specific to Vikram Dev University given its location in the scheduled-area belt: a single window for in-district scheduled-tribe students for admission, hostel, scholarship, and language-of-instruction matters.
The Equal Opportunity Cell is convened by the Dean of Students' Welfare and reports quarterly to the Vice-Chancellor and to the Internal Quality Assurance Cell. The Cell publishes an annual disaggregated report on representation, recruitment, examination outcomes, and grievance disposition across the protected categories.
